This table of information about Natural History and Geology collections has been compiled under the auspices of the North West Federation of Museums - is sets out to give a very broad overview of all collections in museums in North West England. The other sections will appear on the NW Federation of Museums own Website which is in preparation; once it is on-line I will put a link here to the site.
The Fenscore survey concentrated just on these two types of collection and was far more detailed; it also included collections in non-museum institutions, schools, colleges, National Trust properties etc. The two surveys are complementary, and this section of The Collected Collections is copied here for the convenience of researchers. If nothing else, it shows the large number of NW museums that have no natural science material.
